    Summary

    Salivary gland angiolithiasis, a rare condition, was studied in a young patient. These angioliths developed from a regressed hemangioma and were composed of pure apatite, offering new insights into their formation.

    Background:

    • Angiolithiasis in salivary glands is exceptionally rare, limiting understanding of its morphology and histogenesis.

    • Six angioliths from a 19-year-old female's left parotid gland were analyzed using histological, microradiographic, and diffractometric methods.
    • The angioliths originated from a regressed hemangioma present since early childhood.
    • Encapsulated angioliths displayed laminated structures with varying mineral content and homogeneous areas, featuring highly mineralized centers.

    Findings:

    • All examined angioliths consisted of pure apatite.
    • The matrix of the nodules contained erythrocytes and fibroblasts, confirming the diagnosis of angiolithiasis.

    Implications:

    • This study provides detailed morphological and mineralogical insights into salivary gland angiolithiasis.
    • Understanding the histogenesis from hemangioma contributes to the limited knowledge of this rare condition.
