Summary

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) does not impact fetal heart rate or movement. This study found no significant changes in cardiotocographic (CTG) parameters or fetal activity after MRI scans during late gestation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the effects of MRI on fetal cardiotocographic (CTG) parameters.
  • To assess MRI's impact on fetal movement incidence.
  • To determine MRI safety for fetuses in the third trimester.

Main Methods:

  • Sixteen pregnant women in their third trimester underwent MRI scans.
  • Fetal heart rate (FHR), short-term variation (STV), and fetal movements were analyzed before and after MRI.
