Abstract:
Physiological adaptations of pregnancy are summarised. Maternal consequences of pre-eclampsia, eclampsia and HELLP syndrome are described. Goals of ITU management are outlined. Directions for future management/therapies are included. The need to integrate technological expertise with sensitive nursing care is emphasised.
