    Summary

    This study compared two methods for detecting fetal cells in Rh-negative mothers. The Fetaldex test showed high accuracy and is suitable for routine postpartum screening to prevent Rh sensitization.

    Background:

    • Rh sensitization is a significant risk for Rh-negative women carrying Rh-positive fetuses.
    • Early detection of fetal maternal hemorrhage is crucial for timely intervention.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare the efficacy of the Nierhaus modification of the Betke-Kleihauer method and the Fetaldex test in detecting large fetal-maternal transfusions.
    • To evaluate the suitability of the Fetaldex test for routine postpartum screening.

    Main Methods:

    • Two hundred consecutive Rh-negative women were screened postpartum.
    • Fetal-maternal transfusion was assessed using the Betke-Kleihauer method and the Fetaldex test.
