Treatment of symptomatic anterior cervical nonunion using the Rogers interspinous wiring technique

We reviewed the records of 14 patients suffering from symptomatic nonunion after an anterior cervical discectomy and arthrodesis procedure for whom revision procedures, consisting of posterior stabilization by means of the Rogers interspinous wiring technique, were performed. Radiographic union was achieved in all patients; however, the overall clinical improvement was not substantial. We believe that the clinical results may be distorted owing to the large number of patients receiving disability compensation and therefore continue to support the revision procedure on the basis of its high union rate.
