Summary

Erectile dysfunction in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients was not linked to objective physiological abnormalities. Psychological factors and physical impairments were more closely associated with sexual dysfunction in men with MS.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To assess sexual function in male MS patients with complaints of sexual dysfunction.
  • To correlate subjective reports with objective psychophysiological and urodynamic findings.
  • To identify factors contributing to erectile dysfunction in this population.

Main Methods:

  • Included 16 male patients with clinically definite MS and sexual dysfunction.
  • Utilized subjective data from interviews and questionnaires.

    • Disturbed sleep erections and abnormal urodynamics were unrelated to erectile dysfunction complaints.
    • Sexual function in MS patients was associated with psychological factors, reduced general sensitivity, and motor impairment.
