Summary

This study found no significant difference in Human Leukocyte Antigen-E (HLA-E) allele frequencies between women with recurrent spontaneous abortions and controls. Maternal HLA-E gene variations do not appear to cause recurrent pregnancy loss.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between specific Human Leukocyte Antigen-E (HLA-E) alleles and recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA).
  • To compare HLA-E allele frequencies in women with RSA and healthy controls.

Main Methods:

  • Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) sequence-specific oligonucleotide typing was used to analyze HLA-E alleles.
  • Polymorphism analysis focused on exons 2 and 3 of the HLA-E gene.
  • Sequencing confirmed the presence of the HLA-E*01031 allele in informative samples.
