Multinodular goitre presenting as a clinical single nodule: how effective is hemithyroidectomy?

Summary

Hemithyroidectomy is adequate for single thyroid nodules later found to be multinodular goiters. Clinical recurrence is low (12%), and thyroxine therapy does not prevent recurrence in these thyroid surgery patients.
