    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the association between high analgesic consumption and renal function markers in an adult population.
    • To validate self-reported analgesic use with objective measures and assess renal health.

    Main Methods:

    • Interviewed 1,456 adults in a Victorian town regarding current analgesic use.
    • Matched 50 highest consumers with non-consumers based on age and sex.
    • Analyzed early morning urine specimens for osmolality and white blood cell excretion rates.

    Main Results:

    • No significant differences in urine osmolality were observed between high consumers and non-consumers.
    • White blood cell excretion rates did not differ significantly between the two groups.
