    Background:

    • Renal insufficiency and hemodialysis can lead to metabolic bone disease, known as renal osteodystrophy.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate plasma hydroxyproline fractions in patients with renal insufficiency and end-stage renal disease on maintenance hemodialysis.
    • To assess the correlation of these fractions with the degree of renal insufficiency and alkaline phosphatase levels.

    Main Methods:

    • Plasma samples were collected from 50 adult patients with renal insufficiency and 19 patients on maintenance hemodialysis.
    • Hydroxyproline fractions (free, peptide-bound, and protein-bound) were measured.
