By the way, doctor...I read about Baycol, the cholesterol-lowering drug being taken off the market because it caused fatal muscle damage. I don't take it, but I do take another statin. Should I be worried?

Ask the Doctor. I have read in your newsletter that poor dental health can contribute to heart disease. I have always done my best with my teeth, including flossing three times a day, but still have a serious problem with gum recession and have lost a few teeth. I don t have other risk factors for heart disease. Do my dental problems raise my risk for a heart attack?

By the way, doctor. I frequently have to get up at night to help my sick wife. Because I must be up promptly in the morning for my business, I need to get back to sleep quickly and not lie there for an hour or two waiting for nature to take its course. But the doctors I've approached won't prescribe a sleeping pill. They make me feel like a junkie for asking. What's so bad about sleeping pills?
