By the way, doctor...I am 72 years old and generally healthy, but I have an annoying problem: at the end of the day, my voice gets weak and hoarse. I wonder if it's related to my heartburn, which wakes me up occasionally with an acid taste in my throat and mouth. I drink a lot of coffee, and I used to be a heavy smoker but gave that up 15 years agoT H Lee
Harvard Heart Letter : From Harvard Medical School|December 26, 2001
Ask the Doctor. I take a beta blocker called atenolol and an ACE inhibitor every morning for my hypertension. When I get up in the morning, my blood pressure is high, but falls as the day goes on. It seems like it s always pretty good by the time I see my doctor, so she thinks everything is fine. Still, the high numbers worry me. Should I be on another drug?T H Lee

Ask the doctor. I sometimes forget to fill my prescriptions and go several days without my medicines. I know it's important to take my blood pressure pills every day. Is there any danger if I don't take my cholesterol medication for a few days?Thomas H Lee

By the way, doctor...I'm a woman, age 52 and generally healthy. But sometimes my urine has blood in it. After doing some tests, my doctor has pretty much ruled out a urinary tract infection, which makes sense to me because I haven't had any burning sensation. They've done an ultrasound but haven't found anything. I have an appointment to see a urologist, who is going to look inside my bladder. Should I be worried about cancer or something serious like that?T H Lee
