By the way, doctor. I have had a bad back for years and finally started seeing a chiropractor. She's proposed a series of "spinal manipulation" sessions. A friend has had them and says they worked great. But I'm nervous about itThomas H Lee

Ask the doctor. I have atherosclerosis in the arteries of my heart and neck, and my doctors want me to take aspirin. I also have arthritis and take Naprosyn for it every day. I have heard that Naprosyn can prevent blood clots, just like aspirin does. Can I just take Naprosyn, or do I still need to take aspirin, too, to protect my heart and brain from blood clots?Thomas H Lee

By the way, doctor. When I was first diagnosed with hypertension, my doctor (who knew that I was a competitive cyclist) prescribed an ACE inhibitor. I wondered for some time why he didn't prescribe diuretics, since all the articles I've read recommend that as a beginning step. Then I read in a bicycling magazine that ACE inhibitors are the only hypertension medicine that doesn't interfere with aerobic performance. Is that true? And did my doctor do the right thing?Thomas H Lee

Ask the doctor. I take a statin because of high cholesterol. Now that I'm past menopause, my doctor thinks I need to take a medication to protect my bones. I've read that statins prevent osteoporosis, so do I really need another pill?Thomas H Lee
