On call. I'm a 67-year-old heart patient with a dilemma. It's not my heart but my grandson. He's a wonderful 7-year-old, but he's hooked on McDonald's. I love to take him out and make him happy, but I always end up eating the wrong thing. Do you have any suggestions?Harvey B Simon

On call. I've been called a "chocoholic" because I love chocolate and eat a piece after dinner every night. My weight is fine and my cholesterol is, too. Is there any reason to change my ways?Harvey B Simon

On call. The top of my tongue has taken on a dark brown color and a fuzzy look. I don't have a sore throat and I can taste everything, but I'm a bit worried. I am 67, and my only medications are Timoptic and Xalatan-drops for glaucoma. Can you tell me what's wrong and what to do about it?Harvey B Simon

On call. I know you have expressed reservations about alternative therapy from time to time. I realize that it's a tricky issue for doctors, but I find the idea appealing. In particular, I'd like your opinion about chelation therapy. I'm a 68-year-old diabetic with anginaHarvey B Simon

On call. My 27-year-old son had his left testicle removed to treat testicular cancer. He's doing beautifully, and his doctors are confident that he is cured. We are all delighted, but we worry that he may develop cancer in his right testicle. What are the chances of a second cancer? And what should we do about it?Harvey B Simon
Harvard Men'S Health Watch|May 10, 2006
On call. I am 47 years old and I've always been healthy. My main problem is insomnia. Sleeping pills don't work well, and they make me feel groggy. Finally, my doctor gave me a prescription for Desyrel, and he seems to have hit the bull's-eye. I've been sleeping much better and haven't noticed any side effects. But my pharmacist warned me about abnormal erections. Is it a serious concern?Harvey B Simon
