Good news for coffee addictsThomas H Lee
Harvard Heart Letter : From Harvard Medical School|October 24, 2002
Ask the doctor. I sometimes forget to fill my prescriptions and go several days without my medicines. I know it's important to take my blood pressure pills every day. Is there any danger if I don't take my cholesterol medication for a few days?Thomas H Lee
Harvard Health Letter|August 26, 2003
By the way, doctor. Is there any advantage to taking Foxamax with distilled water? The instructions say to take it with "plain water". The city water where I live is loaded with phosphates and other minerals, so I'm worried that my tap water doesn't meet the definition of "plain water"Thomas H Lee
Harvard Health Letter|May 29, 2003
By the way, doctor. The Harvard Health Letter seems pretty dubious about the PSA test for prostate cancer. But a PSA test seemed to catch Senator John Kerry's cancer early, so he got surgery that may have cured him. I just don't get why you have doubts about testing and early detectionThomas H Lee

By the way, doctor. My husband's total cholesterol was 71 for a few months. he cut back on his statin and now it's in the low 90s. His HDL is 50 and his LDL in the 40s. Should we be worried about such low levels?Thomas H Lee
Harvard Heart Letter : From Harvard Medical School|December 25, 2002
Ask the doctor. I'm a 51-year-old man with no risk factors for heart disease other than being male. My blood pressure and cholesterol levels are fine. I exercise, and my diet is pretty good. I've never smoked. Yet I recently underwent a triple bypass for sudden chest pain. What could have caused this blockage and can I prevent future problems?Thomas H Lee
Harvard Heart Letter : From Harvard Medical School|March 26, 2003
Ask the doctor. At age 62 I'm a bit overweight and have diabetes. I take a statin, and my LDL cholesterol is good (84 mg/dL). But my HDL is low (30 mg/dL) and my triglycerides are above 300 mg/dL. Are high triglycerides a problem?Thomas H Lee
Harvard Heart Letter : From Harvard Medical School|September 25, 2003
Ask the doctor. Can exercise help my failing heart pump better?Thomas H Lee
Harvard Heart Letter : From Harvard Medical School|October 25, 2003
Ask the doctor. I am a 50-year-old man with congestive heart failure. My doctor has me on all the usual drugs, and a couple of years ago added spironolactone. I did okay with it for a while, but then began to notice that my breasts were getting bigger and began to hurt. My doctor agreed that I should stop taking spironolactone, but I wonder if I am missing out on somethingThomas H Lee
Harvard Health Letter|October 25, 2003
By the way, doctor. Can you help me out? I've been taking warfarin (Coumadin) for two years now because of a deep-vein thrombus that broke off and went to my lungs. I'd like to get off it. I've also had a hard time managing my vitamin K levels and have been told to cut back on fruits and vegetablesThomas H Lee
