Sus antecedentes:

  • En el último siglo se han observado avances significativos en la salud mundial.
  • Sin embargo, estas mejoras en la salud se distribuyen de manera desigual, lo que lleva a desigualdades arraigadas en la salud dentro y entre las naciones.
  • Las ganancias en salud son frágiles y susceptibles a trastornos por cambios económicos, políticos, sociales y disturbios civiles.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Para poner de relieve el problema persistente de las desigualdades en la salud a pesar del progreso general de la salud mundial.
  • Hacer hincapié en las limitaciones de las medidas actuales del estado de salud en el seguimiento preciso de las tendencias de salud.
  • Abogar por el desarrollo urgente de mejores sistemas regionales y nacionales de vigilancia de la salud.

Principales métodos:

  • Este estudio es una revisión y análisis de las tendencias sanitarias mundiales existentes y las limitaciones de la vigilancia.
  • Sintetiza información sobre el impacto de los factores socioeconómicos y políticos en la equidad en salud.
