Resumen
El quimerismo, la presencia de dos poblaciones celulares distintas, se encontró en la mayoría de los niños con dermatomiositis juvenil. Este hallazgo sugiere un posible vínculo entre el quimerismo y el trastorno autoinmune.

Objetivo del estudio:
- Para investigar la presencia y la extensión del quimerismo en niños diagnosticados con dermatomiositis juvenil.
Principales métodos:
- Se empleó la reacción en cadena de la polimerasa (PCR) para detectar el quimerismo.
- El análisis incluyó células mononucleares de sangre periférica y muestras de tejido muscular.
- Los grupos de comparación consistieron en hermanos y controles no afectados.
Principales resultados:
- El quimerismo se detectó en 13 de 15 niños con DMJ.
- Se identificaron células maternas en la sangre periférica de 11/15 pacientes con DMJ y en el tejido muscular de 12/15.
- Se observaron tasas significativamente más altas de quimeras en pacientes con DMJ en comparación con hermanos y controles (p<0.0001).
Conclusiones:
