  • Estudio de cohorte longitudinal retrospectivo de 645 médicos durante 6 años.
  • Análisis de las quejas informatizadas de pacientes no solicitados y registros de gestión de riesgos.
  • Regresión logística para evaluar las correlaciones ajustadas por la actividad clínica.

Principales resultados:

  • Los cirujanos tenían tasas más altas de quejas de los pacientes y eventos de gestión de riesgos en comparación con los no cirujanos.
  • Las quejas de los pacientes se correlacionaron significativamente con las aberturas de expedientes de gestión de riesgos, los gastos y las demandas, incluso después de ajustar por la actividad clínica.
  • Los modelos predictivos mostraron una alta concordancia para identificar eventos de gestión de riesgos basados en datos de quejas.

Conclusiones:

  • Las quejas no solicitadas de pacientes registradas por un grupo médico se asocian positivamente con las experiencias de gestión de riesgos de los médicos.
  • Los datos de las quejas de los pacientes pueden servir como una herramienta de monitoreo potencial para el riesgo de negligencia médica.
