Tumor Progression

Tumor progression is a phenomenon where the pre-formed tumor acquires successive mutations to become clinically more aggressive and malignant. In the 1950s, Foulds first described the stepwise progression of cancer cells through successive stages.
Colon cancer is one of the best-documented examples of tumor progression. Early mutation in the APC gene in colon cells causes a small growth on the colon wall called a polyp. With time, this polyp grows into a benign, pre-cancerous tumor. Further...

Resumen

Los diagnósticos de cáncer de próstata están aumentando a nivel mundial, sin embargo, sus causas siguen sin estar claras. Una mayor investigación sobre las variaciones étnicas y los vínculos familiares es crucial para comprender y prevenir esta enfermedad.

Área de la Ciencia:

  • Genética La genética.

Sus antecedentes:

  • La incidencia del cáncer de próstata está aumentando en todo el mundo, lo que requiere una mayor comprensión de la prevención.
  • Si bien la dieta y la genética ofrecen algunas pistas, las causas del cáncer de próstata se entienden menos que otros cánceres importantes.
  • Las principales brechas de conocimiento incluyen las variaciones étnicas en la incidencia y los factores que impulsan el agrupamiento familiar del cáncer de próstata.
