Sus antecedentes:

El uso de la terapia de reemplazo hormonal (TRH) ha aumentado en las últimas décadas.
Las indicaciones y los perfiles de riesgo/beneficio de la TRH siguen siendo objeto de un debate en curso.
Los estrógenos poseen propiedades psicoactivas, que influyen en el estado de ánimo y los estados psicológicos.

Objetivo del estudio:

Proponer y explorar el concepto de dependencia de la terapia de reemplazo hormonal (TRH).
Investigar el potencial de tolerancia y síntomas de abstinencia asociados con la terapia de estrógenos.

Principales métodos:

Revisión de la literatura existente sobre los efectos de los estrógenos y la dependencia de drogas.
Análisis de los casos reportados de concentraciones suprafisiológicas de estradiol.
Desarrollo del marco teórico para la dependencia de TRH.

Principales resultados:

Los estrógenos son psicoactivos, con efectos para mejorar el estado de ánimo y psicológicos.
Los niveles suprafisiológicos de estradiol pueden indicar tolerancia y abstinencia.
