Sus antecedentes:

  • El prolapso de la válvula mitral (PVM) es una anomalía valvular frecuente.
  • Es la principal causa de regurgitación mitral severa no isquémica en los EE.UU..
  • Si bien el pronóstico es generalmente excelente, un pequeño porcentaje enfrenta complicaciones graves como endocarditis o muerte súbita cardíaca.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Para proporcionar una revisión exhaustiva del prolapso de la válvula mitral.
  • Para examinar la anatomía mitral normal, las características clínicas / ecocardiográficas, la fisiopatología y la genética.
  • Discutir las estrategias de manejo contemporáneas para el prolapso asintomático y sintomático, centrándose en la reparación quirúrgica.

Principales métodos:

  • Revisión de la literatura y síntesis de los conocimientos actuales sobre el prolapso de válvula mitral.
  • Análisis de los criterios de diagnóstico y métodos de estratificación del riesgo.
