Los oligómeros de ácido nucleico peptídico modificado (PNA) con ciclohexil-timina mostraron una mayor unión al ARN sobre el ADN. Los oligómeros de ciclopentilo-timina PNA se unen igualmente bien tanto al ARN como al ADN.

Sus antecedentes:

Principales resultados:
- Los oligómeros de PNA con ciclohexil-timina formaron dúplex de PNA:ARN con temperaturas de fusión (Tm) 30-50°C más altas que los dúplex de PNA:ADN, lo que indica una mayor afinidad por el ARN.
- Los oligómeros de PNA con ciclopentilo-timina formaron duplexos altamente estables con ARN y ADN sin discriminación significativa.
Conclusiones:
- La modificación de ciclohexilo de la timina PNA puede conferir selectividad para la unión al ARN.
- La modificación ciclopentílica de la timina PNA da como resultado una unión no discriminatoria y de alta afinidad tanto al ARN como al ADN.
- Estos PNA modificados ofrecen potencial para aplicaciones que requieren interacciones específicas o amplias de ácido nucleico.
