Resumen
La distrofia muscular de Becker (DMB) es más común de lo que se pensaba anteriormente, con una prevalencia de 2,38/100,000 en Inglaterra. Su incidencia al nacer es aproximadamente un tercio de la de la distrofia muscular de Duchenne (DMD).

Principales resultados:
- Se identificaron 73 pacientes vivos con DMO en la región, lo que da una prevalencia de 2,38 por cada 100.000 habitantes.
- La prevalencia de la DMO es comparable a la de la distrofia muscular de Duchenne (DMD) en 2.48 por cada 100.000.
- La incidencia de nacimientos acumulados por DMO (1 de cada 18.450 nacimientos de varones) es aproximadamente un tercio de la DMO (1 de cada 5.618 nacimientos de varones).
Conclusiones:
- La distrofia muscular de Becker (DMB) parece ser más común de lo que se estimaba anteriormente.
- Los hallazgos sugieren una subestimación significativa del impacto de la DMO en la salud pública.
