Los mastocitos con una mutación heterocigótica del gen Nf1 promueven el crecimiento del neurofibroma en ratones. La inhibición genética o farmacológica de estos mastocitos bloquea efectivamente la progresión tumoral en los modelos de neurofibromatosis.
