Los dipolos moleculares controlan con precisión los niveles de energía en los puntos cuánticos de sulfuro de cadmio (CdS QD). Esto permite una inyección eficiente de electrones para mejorar el rendimiento de las células solares, aumentando la fotovoltaica y la fotocorriente.
