Objetivo del estudio:

  • Para resumir la comprensión actual y el manejo de la retinopatía diabética.
  • Para resaltar la importancia del control de los factores de riesgo sistémico en la prevención de la retinopatía.
  • Revisar las modalidades de tratamiento establecidas y emergentes para la retinopatía diabética.

Principales métodos:

  • Revisión de la literatura actual sobre la retinopatía diabética.
  • Análisis del papel del control glucémico, de la presión arterial y de los lípidos.
  • Evaluación de los enfoques terapéuticos convencionales y nuevos.

Principales resultados:

  • Las terapias más nuevas como las inyecciones intraoculares de esteroides y agentes anti-VEGF ofrecen opciones de tratamiento de retina menos destructivas.
