Sus antecedentes:

  • La borreliosis de Lyme es causada por la bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato transmitida por las garrapatas.
  • La incidencia de la enfermedad está aumentando a nivel mundial, con eritema migrans como el síntoma inicial común.
  • Las infecciones no tratadas pueden diseminarse para afectar la piel, el sistema nervioso, las articulaciones y el corazón.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Para resumir la etiología, las manifestaciones clínicas, el diagnóstico, el tratamiento y la prevención de la borreliosis de Lyme.
  • Para resaltar la importancia del diagnóstico precoz y la intervención adecuada con antibióticos.
  • Para abordar la eficacia de la duración del tratamiento y la necesidad de medidas preventivas.

Principales métodos:

  • Revisión de la literatura científica actual sobre la borreliosis de Lyme.
  • Análisis de los criterios de diagnóstico, incluida la serología.
  • Evaluación de las pautas de tratamiento y la evidencia para la duración de los antibióticos.

Principales resultados:

  • El eritema migrante a menudo se resuelve espontáneamente, pero puede ocurrir la propagación sistémica.
  • El diagnóstico de laboratorio, principalmente la serología, es crucial, a excepción del eritema migrante clásico.
  • El tratamiento antibiótico estándar (2-4 semanas) conduce a la recuperación en la mayoría de los casos; el tratamiento más prolongado carece de evidencia.

Conclusiones:

  • La enfermedad de Lyme requiere un diagnóstico oportuno y un curso de antibióticos de 2 a 4 semanas para un manejo efectivo.
  • No hay apoyo científico para el tratamiento con antibióticos de más de 4 semanas para la borreliosis de Lyme.
  • La prevención se centra en evitar las picaduras de garrapatas, ya que actualmente no hay una vacuna humana disponible.
