Plants and other photosynthetic organisms comprise pigments capable of absorption of direct sunlight. These pigments are present in the reaction center - the main site of photochemical reactions as well as in the antenna complex.   • Los sistemas de recolección de luz artificial tienen como objetivo imitar la fotosíntesis natural para una eficiente captura y transferencia de energía.
  • Las matrices moleculares ofrecen un control preciso sobre la disposición de los cromóforos para el flujo de energía dirigida.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Para sintetizar y caracterizar una nueva matriz de recolección de luz artificial con una estructura de embudo a escala molecular.
  • Para investigar la dinámica de transferencia de energía dentro de la matriz, centrándose en el flujo de energía dirigida y las barreras de energía potencial.

Principales métodos:

  • Síntesis convergente de una matriz en forma de V que comprende 21 cromóforos discretos.
  • Caracterización de la estructura de la matriz y las propiedades fotofísicas.
  • Análisis de las cascadas de transferencia de energía electrónica y la dinámica del excitón.

Principales resultados:

  • Se sintetizó con éxito una matriz de embudo molecular con alta concentración efectiva de cromóforos (0,6 M) en un pequeño volumen (55 nm3).
  • Se observó una cascada de pasos de transferencia de energía, con tasas de desaceleración hacia el punto focal.
  • La matriz exhibe un efecto de "patrón de retención", que permite a los fotones tomar muestras de múltiples cromóforos antes de llegar al aceptador, y se encontró con barreras de energía a alto flujo.

Conclusiones:

  • La matriz sintetizada dirige efectivamente la energía de excitación a un punto focal, lo que demuestra un sistema de recolección de luz a escala molecular.
  • La dinámica de transferencia de energía observada, incluida la transferencia inversa y las barreras de energía, ofrece información sobre el control del comportamiento de la excitación.
  • La matriz se muestra prometedora como un sensibilizador para las células solares de silicio amorfo, allanando el camino para aplicaciones fotovoltaicas avanzadas.
