Objetivo del estudio:

  • Investigar la correlación entre los lapsos espontáneos de atención y el rendimiento de la memoria.
  • Examinar cómo los lapsos de atención, tanto momentáneos como a nivel de rasgos, se relacionan con la multitarea de los medios y el recuerdo de la memoria.

Principales métodos:

  • Grabación de electroencefalografía (EEG) y pupilometría durante las tareas de codificación y recuperación de la memoria en 80 adultos jóvenes.
  • Atención sostenida a nivel de rasgo evaluada mediante medidas basadas en tareas y cuestionarios.
  • Se analizaron los datos de recuperación de ensayo a ensayo en relación con las medidas de atención neuronal.

Principales resultados:

  • Los lapsos de atención tónica, indicados por la potencia alfa posterior del EEG y el diámetro de la pupila, se correlacionan con la reducción de las señales de memoria neuronal y el olvido conductual.
  • Los lapsos de atención a nivel de rasgos mediaron el vínculo entre las medidas de atención neuronal y el rendimiento de la memoria.
  • La multitarea en los medios de comunicación se asoció con un aumento de los lapsos de atención y un peor recuerdo.

Conclusiones:

  • Los lapsos de atención son un factor significativo en el olvido momentáneo y las diferencias de memoria individuales.
  • Los hábitos de multitarea de los medios contribuyen a los lapsos de atención, lo que afecta la función general de la memoria.
  • Comprender los lapsos de atención ofrece una idea de los mecanismos de la memoria humana.
