Rab GTPases act in a regulated cascade during membrane fusion, helping the lipid bilayers mix. The Rab family of proteins are active when bound to GTP, and inactive when bound to GDP. Hence, they act as guanine nucleotide-dependent molecular switches. Rab-GTP recognizes and binds to long or short-range tethering proteins to capture the target vesicle. Sus antecedentes:

  • Las cadherinas son glicoproteínas cruciales de la superficie celular que median la adhesión de célula a célula dependiente del calcio.
  • Se supone que la expresión diferencial de las cadherinas juega un papel en la morfogénesis tisular y la clasificación celular.
  • Las células L, que carecen de actividad endógena de la cadherina, sirven como un sistema modelo para estudiar la función de la cadherina.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Investigar el papel de las subclases específicas de cadherinas, E-cadherin y P-cadherin, en la mediación de la adhesión celular y la clasificación.
  • Determinar si la expresión de cadherina influye en la asociación de células dentro de poblaciones heterogéneas.
  • Proporcionar evidencia directa para la clasificación celular mediada por cadherina en un contexto de desarrollo.

Principales métodos:

  • Transfección de las células L con los vectores de expresión de E-caderina o P-caderina.

  • Estos hallazgos ofrecen evidencia directa del papel de la cadherina en la organización y el desarrollo de los tejidos.
