Resumen
Un nuevo dinosaurio blindado, Stegouros elengassen, fue descubierto en Chile con un arma de cola única. Este hallazgo arroja luz sobre la evolución temprana de los anquilosaurios en Gondwana.

Sus antecedentes:
- Los dinosaurios blindados (anquilosaurios) son conocidos por sus armas de cola como picos y palos.

- Se propone un nuevo clado, Parankylosauria, para los primeros anquilosaurios de Gondwana divergentes.

- El descubrimiento pone de relieve la diversidad de la evolución de las armas de cola en los dinosaurios blindados.
