Mpox afectó desproporcionadamente a las personas que viven con VIH en el brote de 2022. El VIH avanzado y los recuentos bajos de CD4 (< 200 células/ mm3) se relacionaron con complicaciones graves por mpox y una mayor mortalidad, similares a las afecciones que definen el SIDA.
