Los investigadores sintetizaron cúmulos quirales 3d-4f que exhiben una fuerte actividad magneto-óptica en el infrarrojo cercano-II (NIR-II). Estos nuevos grupos de lantánido-cobre muestran potencial para aplicaciones ópticas avanzadas.

- Investigar las propiedades estructurales y magnéticas que influyen en la respuesta magneto-óptica del NIR-II.
Principales métodos:
- Síntesis de tres pares de agrupaciones quirales 3d-4f (β-LnCu).
- Análisis estructural mediante difracción de rayos X.
- Espectroscopia de dicroísmo circular magnético (MCD) para medir la actividad magneto-óptica.
Principales resultados:
- Se han sintetizado con éxito grupos quirales β-LnCu (Ln = Sm, Gd, Dy) con simetría C3.
- Se observó una fuerte respuesta magneto-óptica en la región NIR-II (1300-1450 nm) debido a las transiciones f-f.
- Se logró un factor g máximo de 5,5 × 10−3 T−1 para el β-SmCu, superando a otros iones estudiados.
Conclusiones:
- Los cúmulos Ln-Cu sintetizados exhiben una actividad magneto-óptica NIR-II significativa.
- Las transiciones f-f permitidas por dipolo magnético y la quiralidad helicoidal son los motores clave de esta actividad.
- Este trabajo presenta los cúmulos Ln-Cu más grandes hasta la fecha y destaca la importancia de las transiciones f-f en magneto-óptica.
