Resumen
El metoncogén, vinculado al cáncer, es una nueva tirosina quinasa relacionada con los receptores del factor de crecimiento. Su gen se encuentra en el cromosoma 7, cerca de la fibrosis quística.

Sus antecedentes:
- El oncogén met fue aislado de una línea celular humana (MNNG-HOS).
- Dos clases de transcripción se originan en el locus proto-oncogénico encontrado, con el oncogén que expresa un ARN aberrante.
- Investigaciones anteriores indicaron que el ARN aberrante del oncogén encontrado comparte secuencias con ambas transcripciones conocidas.
Objetivo del estudio:
- Para realizar la secuenciación parcial de nucleótidos de la oncogenia humana encontrada.
- Determinar la relación del oncogén encontrado con los oncogenes conocidos y los receptores del factor de crecimiento.
- Para mapear la ubicación cromosómica del gen met.

- Secuenciación parcial de nucleótidos del oncogén metálico humano.
- Análisis de homología de secuencias comparando con familias conocidas de quinasas y genes específicos (receptor de insulina, abl viral).
- La hibridación de cromosomas in situ para mapear la ubicación del gen encontrado.
Principales resultados:
- El metoncogén está relacionado con los oncogenes de la proteína quinasa y los receptores del factor de crecimiento.
- Met muestra una homología más cercana a las tirosinacinasas que a las serina/treoninacinasas, particularmente el receptor de insulina humana y el gen viral abl.
- La hibridación in situ mapeada se encontró con la banda 7q21-q31 del cromosoma humano 7, distinta de otras quinasas y una región asociada con deleciones de leucemia aguda no linfocítica.
Conclusiones:
- El metoncogén representa una nueva tirosina quinasa con similitudes estructurales con los receptores del factor de crecimiento.
- La ubicación cromosómica de met (7q21-q31) es significativa, siendo distinta de otras quinasas y vinculada a leucemias específicas.
- El locus del gen met también está asociado con la fibrosis quística, lo que sugiere posibles roles pleiotrópicos o interacciones genéticas complejas.
