Immunotherapy is a treatment that boosts or manipulates the immune system to fight diseases, including cancer. For instance, by stimulating an immune response through vaccinations against viruses that cause cancers, like hepatitis B virus and human papillomavirus, these diseases can be prevented. Resumen

Sus antecedentes:

  • Las placas de amiloide-beta (Aβ) son una característica de la enfermedad de Alzheimer (EA).
  • Las terapias actuales dirigidas a la Aβ pueden causar eventos adversos como anomalías de imagen relacionadas con la amiloide (ARIA).

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Desarrollar y evaluar un anticuerpo modificado para una mejor orientación de Aβ con efectos secundarios reducidos.
  • Evaluar la eficacia y la seguridad de este anticuerpo modificado en un modelo de ratón de EA.

Principales métodos:

  • Diseñar un anticuerpo con modificaciones específicas para alterar su interacción con Aβ.
  • Administración del anticuerpo modificado a ratones transgénicos con patología Aβ.
  • Evaluación de la carga de placa Aβ, la función cognitiva y la incidencia de eventos adversos.

Principales resultados:

  • El anticuerpo modificado redujo significativamente la carga de placa Aβ en comparación con el control.
  • Se observó una notable disminución de los eventos adversos, como la ARIA.
