Resumen

El factor de necrosis tumoral alfa (TNFα) y la haptoglobina (Hp) muestran una alta precisión en el diagnóstico de cólicos en caballos. El TNFα es particularmente eficaz tanto para los cólicos no estranguladores como para los estranguladores, ofreciendo una herramienta de diagnóstico prometedora para los veterinarios equinos.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Evaluar el rendimiento diagnóstico de los biomarcadores séricos para diferenciar la gravedad de los cólicos en caballos.
  • Evaluar la sensibilidad, la especificidad y el área bajo la curva (AUC) de los analíticos seleccionados.
  • Identificar biomarcadores fiables para el diagnóstico de cólicos no estranguladores y estranguladores.

Principales métodos:

  • Se clasificaron 61 caballos en cólicos estranguladores (SC), cólicos no estranguladores (NC) y grupos de control.
  • Se midieron las concentraciones séricas del factor de necrosis tumoral α (TNFα), la haptoglobina (Hp), el óxido nítrico (NO), el malondialdehído (MDA), el zinc, el hierro y el cobre.
  • Se utilizó el análisis de las características operativas del receptor (ROC) para determinar la precisión del diagnóstico.

Principales resultados:

  • El TNFα demostró una excelente precisión diagnóstica para cólicos no estranguladores (AUC=0,996) y cólicos estranguladores (AUC=1,00).
  • La haptoglobina mostró un buen rendimiento diagnóstico para el cólico estrangulador (AUC=0,898).
  • Se identificaron valores de corte específicos para el TNFα y el Hp para el diagnóstico preciso de cólicos.

Conclusiones:

  • El TNFα sérico es un biomarcador altamente preciso para el diagnóstico de cólicos no estranguladores y estranguladores en caballos.
  • TNFα y Hp sirven como valiosas herramientas de diagnóstico para identificar afecciones intestinales estranguladoras.
  • Estos hallazgos ofrecen nuevas perspectivas para mejorar el diagnóstico y el tratamiento de los cólicos equinos.
