  • Investigar el impacto de los valores de los médicos en su motivación para el desarrollo profesional continuo (DPC).
  • Explorar la relación entre la alineación percibida de la DPC con los valores intrínsecos/extrínsecos y la orientación motivacional.

Principales métodos:

  • Se realizó una encuesta transversal en línea a médicos en ejercicio en una provincia canadiense.
  • La encuesta evaluó la motivación de la DPC, la importancia de los valores intrínsecos y extrínsecos, y la alineación de la DPC con estos valores.
  • 122 médicos completaron la encuesta.

Principales resultados:

  • La percepción de la DPC como contribución a "ayudar a los demás" está positivamente correlacionada con la regulación intrínseca, identificada y introducida.
  • La consideración de la DPC como contribuyente al "crecimiento personal" se asoció positivamente con la regulación identificada.
  • Los médicos que alinearon la DPC con los valores intrínsecos informaron orientaciones motivacionales más deseables.

Conclusiones:

  • La percepción de los médicos de la alineación de CPD con los valores intrínsecos, como ayudar a los demás y el crecimiento personal, influye positivamente en su motivación.
  • Los proveedores de desarrollo profesional continuo (DPC) deben enfatizar la conexión entre las actividades de DPC y los valores intrínsecos de los médicos.
  • Destacar estas conexiones en los materiales promocionales puede mejorar la motivación y el compromiso de los médicos con la DPC.
