  • Para determinar si el aprendizaje automático puede clasificar los antecedentes educativos de los estudiantes en función de los comportamientos de visión cercana.
  • Explorar la asociación entre los sistemas educativos, los patrones de comportamiento visual y el error de refracción.

Principales métodos:

  • Se reclutaron estudiantes universitarios varones (de 18 a 33 años) de los sistemas educativos preuniversitarios intensivos (ultraortodoxos) y estándar (no ultraortodoxos).
  • Se midió el error de refracción y se evaluaron los comportamientos de visión cercana utilizando sensores portátiles durante el estudio académico.
  • Empleó algoritmos de aprendizaje automático para identificar predictores de antecedentes educativos a partir de datos de comportamiento visual.

Principales resultados:

  • Los estudiantes de escuelas intensivas exhibieron más refracción miope en comparación con los estudiantes de escuelas estándar (P < 0,03).
  • Los estudiantes de escuelas intensivas pasaban más tiempo viendo distancias muy cercanas (P < 0,004) y menos tiempo viendo distancias intermedias (P < 0,008).
  • Las distancias de visión cercana fueron significativamente más cortas en los estudiantes de escuelas intensivas (P < 0,0001). El aprendizaje automático identificó episodios prolongados de visión lejana y distancia de visión cercana como predictores clave de los antecedentes educativos.

Conclusiones:

  • Los entornos educativos están asociados con patrones de comportamiento visual distintos que pueden influir en el desarrollo refractivo.
  • El aprendizaje automático predice efectivamente los sistemas educativos basados en comportamientos de visión cercana, destacando su potencial para la investigación.
  • Este estudio subraya la interacción entre los entornos educativos, los hábitos visuales y la progresión de la miopía.
