Los bosques fósiles de Myanmar revelan la dispersión temprana de plantas del Paleógeno desde África hasta la región de Indo-Myanmar, formando una provincia florística única. Esta provincia influenciada por Gondwanan persistió hasta el Oligoceno temprano, impactando la flora del sudeste asiático.
