Principales métodos:
- Un estudio piloto de 6 semanas involucró a 18 estudiantes universitarios hispanos en grupos de MIPE o yoga.
- Los datos recopilados incluyeron antropometría, estilo de vida, estrés percibido (PSS-10), cortisol salival y prueba de estrés social de Trier (TSST).
Principales resultados:
- Previo a la intervención, un mayor estrés se correlacionó con un mayor consumo de bebidas azucaradas y un menor interés por el ejercicio.
- Ni el MIPE ni el yoga redujeron significativamente el estrés psicológico general.
- La intervención de yoga mejoró la respuesta del cortisol salival al TSST.
Conclusiones:
- El yoga a corto plazo puede ofrecer beneficios para el manejo de la respuesta aguda al estrés en estudiantes universitarios hispanos.
- Se necesitan más ensayos a gran escala para confirmar la eficacia de la intervención.
