La escisión mesocólica completa (CME) mejora los resultados del cáncer de colon al mejorar la precisión quirúrgica y aumentar la recuperación de los ganglios linfáticos. Este enfoque radical ofrece un mejor control local y tasas de supervivencia para los pacientes con cáncer de colon.

  • La evidencia sugiere un beneficio de supervivencia de la EMC, pero los mecanismos no están claros.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Revisar la literatura y examinar los mecanismos potenciales detrás de los beneficios oncológicos de la EMC.

Principales métodos:

  • Revisión completa de la literatura de las bases de datos de PubMed y Embase.
  • Examen de los mecanismos potenciales para el beneficio oncológico de la EMC.

Principales resultados:

  • La EMC mejora la negatividad del margen radial, el rendimiento de los ganglios linfáticos y la estadificación.
  • La extirpación en bloque del mesenterio aborda los depósitos tumorales, reduciendo la recurrencia y mejorando la supervivencia.
  • La EMC está relacionada con una disminución de la recurrencia local y una mayor supervivencia libre de enfermedad/total.

Conclusiones:

  • La EMC beneficia significativamente el control local de la enfermedad y la supervivencia específica del cáncer.
  • Se necesita más investigación sobre los factores patológicos y moleculares de pronóstico en la EMC.
