Depth perception is the ability to perceive objects three-dimensionally. It relies on two types of cues: binocular and monocular. Binocular cues depend on the combination of images from both eyes and how the eyes work together. Since the eyes are in slightly different positions, each eye captures a slightly different image. This disparity between images, known as binocular disparity, helps the brain interpret depth. When the brain compares these images, it determines the distance to an object.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Investigar las diferencias cuantitativas y cualitativas en la adaptación visual-motora.
  • Estimar con precisión las tasas de aprendizaje y olvido individuales utilizando modelos de adaptación rápida-lenta.
  • Explorar las distintas estrategias de aprendizaje en la adaptación visual-motora.

Principales métodos:

  • Una tarea de adaptación visual-motora en línea de dos días con aprendizaje repetido y bloqueos de olvido.
  • Los participantes se adaptaron a una perturbación de 30 grados en tres bloques de aprendizaje.
  • Agrupación de los participantes en aprendices fuertes y débiles basados en niveles de adaptación y ajuste de sistemas rápidos y lentos.

Principales resultados:

  • Los estudiantes fuertes mostraron una correlación negativa entre los procesos rápidos y lentos, prediciendo la retención y el ahorro, indicativo de un sistema rápido-lento.
  • Los estudiantes débiles exhibieron retención sin ahorros, lo que sugiere la dependencia de un solo sistema lento.
  • Los estudiantes débiles demostraron tiempos de reacción más cortos durante el inicio y la adaptación en comparación con los estudiantes fuertes.

Conclusiones:

  • La adaptación visuomotriz implica al menos dos estrategias de aprendizaje distintas: un sistema rápido y lento y un sistema único y lento.
  • Las diferencias individuales en las tasas de aprendizaje contribuyen al reclutamiento de diferentes procesos de adaptación.
  • Los futuros estudios de aprendizaje motor deberán tener en cuenta las diferencias individuales tanto cuantitativas como cualitativas.
