  • Las búsquedas abarcaron publicaciones desde agosto de 2012 hasta marzo de 2025, siguiendo la guía metodológica del Instituto Joanna Briggs (JBI).
  • Los criterios de inclusión se centraron en los adultos cuidadores informales de adultos con condiciones de vida limitantes que reciben cuidados paliativos en el hogar; se empleó un análisis temático.

Principales resultados:

  • La revisión incluyó 173 trabajos, revelando un complejo panorama de impactos en los cuidadores informales.
  • El análisis temático identificó siete temas interrelacionados que detallan las experiencias de estos cuidadores.
  • Los hallazgos ponen de relieve los aspectos de apoyo y de carga de los cuidados paliativos domiciliarios para los cuidadores informales.

Conclusiones:

  • Los cuidados paliativos en el hogar tienen un impacto significativo en los cuidadores informales de varias maneras, lo que requiere una mayor investigación sobre estas dinámicas complejas.
  • La síntesis de la evidencia subraya la necesidad de estrategias de apoyo específicas para los cuidadores informales que navegan por enfermedades que limitan la vida.
  • La investigación futura debe continuar explorando las experiencias y necesidades matizadas de los cuidadores informales dentro de los entornos de cuidados paliativos en el hogar.
