Sus antecedentes:

  • Los jóvenes cuidadores (YC) son niños menores de 18 años que desempeñan funciones de cuidado de adultos.
  • La comprensión pública de las YC en Japón es limitada a pesar de la creciente atención.
  • Existe la necesidad de una herramienta fiable para evaluar el conocimiento público de las YC.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Desarrollar y validar una escala para medir el conocimiento público de los jóvenes cuidadores (YC).
  • Examinar la fiabilidad y validez de la escala desarrollada.

Principales métodos:

  • Se realizó una encuesta por Internet a 218 adultos en Japón.
  • El análisis exploratorio de factores se utilizó para desarrollar una escala de 29 elementos en tres factores.
  • Se utilizaron el alfa de Cronbach y MANCOVA para evaluar la fiabilidad y la validez del discriminante.

Principales resultados:

  • La escala demostró una alta consistencia interna (α = 0,91-0,97).
  • El análisis de factores identificó tres áreas clave: los roles familiares excesivos, los desafíos del cuidado diario y los impactos ocultos.
  • MANCOVA confirmó diferencias significativas en las puntuaciones de conocimiento basadas en la conciencia subjetiva, lo que respalda la validez.

Conclusiones:

  • La escala desarrollada evalúa efectivamente la comprensión pública de los cuidadores jóvenes.
  • Los resultados indican una correlación positiva entre la conciencia pública y el conocimiento de las circunstancias de las YC.
  • La investigación futura debe explorar las variaciones del conocimiento en diferentes contextos demográficos y culturales.
