Resumen

El tablero Get to Know Me mejoró las percepciones de empatía para las familias en la unidad de cuidados intensivos neonatales (NICU, por sus siglas en inglés). Si bien ayuda a la comprensión, un entorno de atención centrado en la familia de apoyo sigue siendo crucial para el bienestar del paciente y la familia de la UCIN.

Sus antecedentes:

  • La investigación existente en el tablero Get to Know Me se limita principalmente a entornos hospitalarios para adultos.
  • La eficacia de esta intervención de atención centrada en el paciente y la familia en las unidades de cuidados intensivos neonatales (NICU, por sus siglas en inglés) requiere más investigación.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Evaluar el impacto de un tablero específico de "Conozcame" en las percepciones de la enfermera y la familia.
  • Evaluar los cambios en la empatía percibida, la confianza y la satisfacción entre las familias y las enfermeras.
  • Para explorar la influencia de la junta en el compromiso de la enfermera en los comportamientos de cuidado.

Principales métodos:

  • Se empleó un enfoque de métodos mixtos, en el que participaron 70 familias y 39 enfermeras en 5 grupos de salas de un solo paciente de la UCIN.
  • Los grupos fueron asignados al azar a las herramientas de comunicación estándar o a la adición del tablero "Conocerme".
  • Se utilizaron medidas cuantitativas validadas y entrevistas cualitativas para recopilar datos sobre las percepciones y experiencias.

Principales resultados:

  • Los miembros de la familia informaron una mejora significativa de la percepción de la empatía después de 2 semanas (P = .05).
  • Las percepciones de las enfermeras sobre el compromiso con los comportamientos de cuidado se mantuvieron sin cambios (P = .40).
  • Los datos cualitativos sugieren que la junta facilita la comprensión mutua, pero es un componente de un enfoque de atención más amplio centrado en la familia.

Conclusiones:

  • El tablero "Conozcame" muestra el potencial para mejorar la atención centrada en la familia dentro del entorno de la UCIN.
  • Un sólido entorno de atención centrado en la familia parece ser un factor crítico para optimizar las experiencias del paciente y de la familia.
  • Se recomienda una investigación adicional para determinar completamente el valor del tablero Get to Know Me específico de la UCIN.
