  • La eficacia comparativa de la práctica de recuperación frente a la generación mnemotécnica para conceptos complejos está poco explorada.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Comparar los efectos de la práctica de recuperación, la generación mnemónica y la relectura en la memoria y la transferencia de conceptos químicos.
  • Evaluar la eficiencia y la efectividad percibida de estas estrategias de aprendizaje.

Principales métodos:

  • Se realizaron dos experimentos en los que participaron 138 estudiantes universitarios.
  • Los participantes se dedican a la práctica de recuperación, generación mnemotécnica o relectura de conceptos de química.
  • El aprendizaje se evaluó mediante pruebas de memoria y transferencia administradas después de 5 minutos o 2 días.

Principales resultados:

  • Tanto la práctica de recuperación como la generación mnemónica mejoraron significativamente la memoria y la transferencia en comparación con la relectura.
  • No se encontraron diferencias significativas en el rendimiento de la prueba entre la práctica de recuperación y la generación mnemónica.
  • La práctica de recuperación fue más eficiente en el tiempo que la generación mnemónica, pero los participantes calificaron la generación mnemónica como más efectiva.

Conclusiones:

  • La práctica de recuperación y la generación mnemónica son estrategias efectivas para aprender conceptos complejos, superando la relectura pasiva.
  • Las percepciones de los alumnos sobre la eficacia de la estrategia no siempre coinciden con los resultados objetivos del aprendizaje.
  • Los hallazgos tienen implicaciones para optimizar las estrategias de estudio y comprender las teorías de la práctica de recuperación.
