Resumen
Los pacientes con colangitis biliar primaria (CBP) muestran un aumento en el recuento y la activación de los basófilos. Estos basófilos activados liberan más IL-6, lo que puede conducir a la proliferación de células Th17 y contribuir a la PBC.

Sus antecedentes:
- Las células T ayudantes 17 (Th17) e IL-17 conducen a la lesión inmune en la colangitis biliar primaria (CBP).
- La interleucina-6 (IL-6) activa las células Th17.
- La IL-6 derivada de los basófilos promueve la diferenciación y la función de las células Th17.
Objetivo del estudio:
- Investigar la activación de los basófilos y la expresión de las citocinas en la PBC.
- Elucidar las contribuciones de los basófilos a la patogénesis de la PBC.
Principales métodos:
- Estudio retrospectivo de casos y controles en 65 pacientes con CBC, 65 pacientes con hepatitis B crónica y 65 controles sanos.
- La citometría de flujo analizó la proporción de basófilos, los marcadores de activación (CD203c, CD62L), los basófilos IL-6+ y las células Th17 (CD3+CD4+IL-17+).
Principales resultados:
- Los pacientes con PBC presentaron recuentos y proporciones de basófilos más altos que los de CHB y los controles sanos.
- Se observaron elevados marcadores de activación de los basófilos (CD203c) y un aumento de los basófilos IL-6+ en la CBC.
- La proporción de células Th17 fue significativamente mayor en pacientes con CBC.
Conclusiones:
- Los pacientes con CBC presentan un aumento en el recuento de basófilos periféricos y una mayor activación.
- Los basófilos activados en la PBC muestran un aumento de la expresión de IL-6.
- Esta IL-6 puede promover la proliferación de las células Th17, contribuyendo a la patogénesis de la PBC.
