Resumen

Boot Camp Translation (BCT) aumentó significativamente las tasas de inicio y finalización de la vacunación contra el virus del papiloma humano (VPH) en las clínicas pediátricas. Objetivo del estudio:

Evaluar el impacto de Boot Camp Translation (BCT), un método de investigación participativo basado en la comunidad, en la absorción de la vacunación contra el VPH.
Comparar las tasas de vacunación contra el VPH en las clínicas que utilizan la BCT con las clínicas de control.
Evaluar la eficacia de la BCT para aumentar el inicio y finalización de la vacuna contra el VPH.

Principales métodos:

Se realizó un estudio cuasisexperimental de casos y controles en 6 clínicas pediátricas de Colorado.
El proceso de BCT involucró el diseño colaborativo de mensajes y campañas de vacunación contra el VPH por parte de los proveedores, el personal, los padres y los pacientes adolescentes durante 6 meses.
Se compararon las tasas de vacunación contra el VPH entre las clínicas de intervención y de control utilizando modelos de regresión logística jerárquica.

Principales resultados:

El inicio de la vacuna contra el VPH aumentó del 45,9% al 56,7% en las clínicas de intervención y del 44,6% al 52,8% en las clínicas de control.
La finalización de la vacuna contra el VPH también aumentó en ambos grupos, con mayores mejoras observadas en las clínicas de intervención.
Los análisis multivariables mostraron probabilidades significativamente más altas de inicio de la vacuna contra el VPH (aOR=1,80) y de finalización (aOR=1,72) en las clínicas de intervención en comparación con los controles.

Conclusiones:

Boot Camp Translation (BCT) es un método de investigación participativo basado en la comunidad eficaz para mejorar la absorción de la vacunación contra el VPH.
El enfoque de BCT demuestra un potencial significativo para mejorar las tasas de inmunización de adolescentes en entornos clínicos.
Una mayor aplicación de la BCT puede ayudar a lograr una mayor cobertura de vacunación contra el VPH y reducir la carga de enfermedades relacionadas con el VPH.
