Sus antecedentes:

  • La estimación precisa de la dosis en mamografía y radiología se basa en el conocimiento preciso de la cantidad del haz.
  • Los multímetros de rayos X (XMM) son ampliamente utilizados para la garantía de calidad (QA) debido a su diseño compacto y de estado sólido y a su facilidad de uso.

Objetivo del estudio:

  • Evaluar el rendimiento de dos XMM en haces de calibración de rayos X de baja energía.
  • Evaluar la estabilidad a largo plazo de las calibraciones del fabricante para los MMX.

Principales métodos:

  • RTI Piranha y Radcal Accu-Gold + con sensor AGMS-DM + se utilizaron para medir las tasas de aire-kerma y las capas de medio valor.
  • Las mediciones se compararon con instrumentos estándar y se repitieron durante 2,5 años para rastrear la estabilidad de la respuesta energética.

Principales resultados:

  • Ambos XMM se realizaron dentro de la tolerancia, con tasas de airkerma dentro del 2% de los valores de referencia.
  • Los XMM mostraron una estabilidad satisfactoria, aunque se observó cierta desviación de la respuesta, particularmente en el RTI Piranha.
  • Casi todas las mediciones de la capa de medición estaban dentro de los límites aceptables.

Conclusiones:

  • Los XMM probados cumplían las especificaciones de rendimiento de sus fabricantes.
  • La recalibración podría mejorar la precisión de la medición para ciertas series de haces.
  • Se recomiendan estudios adicionales en condiciones clínicas rigurosas.
