Resumen

Identificar subgrupos en trastornos del neurodesarrollo (TND) basándose en el comportamiento, no solo en el diagnóstico, es clave. Los niños con perfiles de comportamiento más graves, incluyendo el trastorno del espectro autista (TEA) y el trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad (TDAH), muestran tasas más altas de síntomas gastrointestinales.

Conclusiones:

Las dimensiones conductuales, en lugar de las etiquetas diagnósticas por sí solas, son esenciales para delinear los subgrupos de TND.
La fuerte asociación entre fenotipos conductuales severos y síntomas gastrointestinales resalta el papel potencial del eje intestino-cerebro en los TND.
La investigación adicional sobre las vías de señalización del eje intestino-cerebro puede dilucidar los mecanismos biológicos que subyacen a las diferencias individuales en los perfiles conductuales de los TND.
